The Process Breakdown
Step 1: Registration & Application
- Visit the official KEA website: cetonline.karnataka.gov.in/kea.
- Register online by providing NEET UG details and filling the mandatory fields.
- Upload required documents including Domicile certificates, Category certificates (if applicable), and academic records.
- Pay the registration fee online.
Step 2: Document Verification
KEA conducts document verification for registered candidates. Verification slips and secret keys are issued upon successful verification.
Eligibility
- Verified candidates are eligible for the option entry process.
- Ensure all certificates meet the date criteria published by KEA.
Step 3: Option Entry (Choice Filling)
Candidates must log in using their credentials and secret key to enter their course and college preferences.
- Mock Allotment: KEA typically releases a mock allotment to help candidates understand their chances.
- Editing Options: Candidates can modify, add, or delete choices after the mock allotment.
Step 4: Online Counselling Rounds
Counselling is typically conducted in multiple rounds:
- Round 1: Seat allotment based on merit and entered options. Candidates can choose Choice 1, 2, 3, or 4.
- Round 2: Upgradation round for candidates who selected Choice 2 in Round 1 and fresh allotments.
- Mop-up Round: Conducted for vacant seats.
- Stray Vacancy Round: Final round to fill remaining seats.
Step 5: Allotment & Admission
Provisional Allotment
Candidates allotted a seat must exercise their choices (Choice 1 to accept and join, Choice 2 to hold and upgrade, etc.).
Admission
Download the Admission Order, pay the prescribed tuition fee, and report to the allotted college with original documents before the deadline.

Note: In Karnataka KEA Counselling, Choice 1 means you accept the seat and exit counselling. Choice 2 means you hold the seat but participate in Round 2 for higher options. Choice 3 means you reject the seat and participate in Round 2. Choice 4 means you reject the seat and exit counselling.
